Spanish Proficiency Levels and the Beepboop Curriculum

CEFR Learning Scale & Beepboop Drills

When it comes to learning a new language, learning standards have been established for tracking various levels of language proficiency. Specifically, the 'Common European Framework of Reference for Languages' or CEFR organizes language learning into 6 distinct levels, ranging from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Mastery) for language learning, including Spanish. You will commonly see this scale being used across various language learning platforms and communities for individuals to identify what their proficiency is.

Providing a reference for these standards is critical to help you track your language learning progress as you utilize various resources. In this article, we will be discussing these learning standards within the context of Beepboop's various courses and learning levels. We hope this helps you get a better sense of where you are at with your learning and what your language learning journey will look like going forward!

Read about each of our levels below:
A1 - Basic/Beginner
A2 - Elementary
B1 - Intermediate
B2 - Advanced/Upper-Intermediate
C1 - Operational Proficiency
C2 - Mastery

A quick note:
We have found that no single class is "one sizes fits all" and that it often takes a few drills for our students to get comfortable with the right one. We recommend experimenting by taking drills in-between levels to get a better sense of the content and pace of each one. Learning a new language is a marathon not a sprint - don't worry if you are uncomfortable at first 😊 .

A1 - Basic/Beginner 🤓

The A1 level most appropriately describes individuals with no previous exposure to Spanish or Romance languages looking to learn for the first time. At the A1 level, you know less than 50 words and are essentially starting with a clean slate. If you fall under this category, not to worry! We will help you take the first step in learning pronunciation, vocabulary, and ultimately speaking.
